Max Llewellyn-Edge-Iowa

I like him a lot. Not a flashy prospect that is going to wow you with his Combine numbers or measurements but a consistent performer with a high motor that has a plan of attack and is often able to wear opposing linemen down through his tenacity. Great first step that can put slower tackles on skates and regularly found ways to make his presence known despite a lack of ideal edge rusher traits. Fits well as a rotational pass rusher in a Wide 9 scheme.

Good closing burst!
He might be my favorite fit for us. Much better pas rush repertoire than many guys mocked in round 1 and exactly what we're missing given how much we probably over-prioritized run defending DL. Bosa and Huff are the only guys on the roster with any real developed pass rush moves and need another edge we can use on 3rd downs (assuming Mykel/YGM/White are exclusively guys you'd kick in on 3rd downs). Also there's a chance we trade or release Huff in the offseason given his base is much higher next year, no guaranteed $ and he wasn't exactly productive enough to justify $15M.
Would like to add this guy to this defense for sure

We definitely didn't overpriortize. It was a huge need. Stopping the run is always first. With that said, we can stand to add extra rushers.

As for Huff, you can't truly evaluate him based on this season. He's being asked to do things he can't or shouldn't be doing. With Bosa on rush downs only, he looked good. If anything, Id take advantage and try to get a 2 year extension for a little cheaper. A healthy Bryce Huff on pass rushing downs looks completely different.

this we definitely did overprioritize it was the #1 need coming into last draft. I am not too worried about the pass rush tbh because as you said Huff isnt a starting DE who is not meant to set edges and stuff he is a speed pass rusher. I think once we get Bosa and Williams back you will see pass rush instantly improve. That is to say we definitely still need rotational players on DL at EDGE and DT i dont know if i would classify it as a first round need though i would live to get a bunch of players in round 3+

Early round i would like a WR S LB as top needs

I meant that is was appropriate the focus we put on D-line, given the state of our run D last year. I would argue that with Mykel Williams alone, Seattle doesn't run on us like that and it's a competitive game tha we likely would lose. With Williams and Bosa, we could possibly even stop their run and have a realistic shot at winning the game.

With that said, I like the potential of another 3 down edge rusher as we can get a real rotation going and keep our marathon guys like Williams and Bosa at about 50 snaps a game. I'd still want a pure speed guy but this is a good start.
A spin move

Good weigh-in, I was hoping for at least 255+

Vrabel will draft him at end of rd. 2

He is a 4th/5th rounder. But if we didn't go EDGE with our first two picks I'd be happy to grab him with one of our 4ths.

We absolutely need to double dip for EDGE. Mykel and White really should be iDL on passing downs. Which means we only have Bosa and Sam O as our pass down EDGE.

So if we get a Howell + Max, that will help round out the EDGE unit + a vet FA addition like Ferrell.

That low? From the discussion in this thread I was assuming 2nd or high 3rd.

I forgot the website (hopefully it will come to be my end of day lol) but i saw he pretty much exclusivly ran on a wide 9 alignment and if you watch the tape he is almost non existant against the run . He has a goodfirst step and an amazing spin move however he doesnt really have too many other moves. He is also one of those DPR specialist along with Howell and R mason Thomas for example but is less explosive and refined then them both
