Max Iheanachor-OT-Arizona State

Such a raw prospect, but the tools are obvious. Would feel a lot better about drafting someone like him on day two, but he won't last that long after impressing at the Senior Bowl. Don't think we should take the kid at #27.

Zion Young said that he was the best OT that he went against at Senior Bowl
If the 49ers have to trade Trent, this is the only guy that would be available that I have confidence in being able to hold down left tackle long term, even if he might be too raw to do it as a rookie.

He's good but they aren't going to pick offensive line. Shany doesn't even like offensive line. He ignores it.

He does care about tackle. They drafted McGlinchey really early and traded for Williams. Whether they keep Williams or not I think they know they are on the clock for a new LT.

No choice once Trent is traded.

Have to go Iheanachor at #27 - no trade backs can't even get cute trading back 3-6 slots for extra picks now. He will be there at #27 and we should bite the bullet and take him.

Hell even if we kept Trent one more year this whole drama going on now shows we should probably take Iheanachor no matter what.

And this is coming from a guy who desperately wants Omar Cooper Jr at #27. If we are going Iheanachor I hope Cooper Jr is not on the board when we pick as it will take away any sting and actually get me pumped up as I really like Iheanachor's upside, athleticism, and nastiness.

I am getting on this page. I like his size somewhere between the mauling Proctor (probably not a scheme fit) and the dancing bear Lomu. The argument to sit a year is likely (hopefully) going to be the case. The Niners took out OT insurance with Lowe. So even if Trent or McKivitz went down Iheanachor wouldn't have to go in.

However, the idea of starting Iheanachor next to Trent for a year and "learning on the job" while getting valuable NFL reps is interesting. Puni played OT at KU and that worked out. Iheanachor has the size to play inside and the feet for sure. It is an intriguing proposition.

The value at OT I think is there at #27. Same could be said for WR. I'm not as sure at edge. But I feel like we need an OT this year as I have the last 2. But the urgency is turned up this year for sure given the offseason and where we are with Trent. I like the idea that maybe he could play at OG too so we could not redshirt our 1st rd pick which as pointed out already no one wants to do. I see @Genus49 's point also about not wanting to screw him up. Devil's advocate to that is he sure has learned the game fast, maybe he can do the same at the next level.
I would pick Max Iheanachor at 27 now. I had followed Lomu all year because of the size and quickness. I then worried about the run blocking and being able to play right away being our 1st pick.

I was impressed with Max at the senior bowl and combine. You had the size and athleticism plus the future potential to develop further o be a LT. i liked his OL mindset and physical play also.
I would plug him in at RT. Then move McKivitz to LG. We could also try Max at LG. We need to address the OL. We need a tackle to eventually replace Trent so he can't hold us hostage.
So a guy who can play guard as a rookie and transition to tackle after a certain hall of famer retires. Yeah I'd be damn happy with this selection at 27

Im not so sure we should be so quick to assume he can start at left guard day one
I wouldn't be surprised to see him go top 15–20.
Please...please..please

he is raw and 25 years old i dont even think he is close to a first round pick if the OT class wasnt so weak. He does have the athletic tools though
