He was def rustier than usual, IMO. I dont care about the OTAs etc but would nice if he was there for camp - he usually has a bunch of off days anyways. Which gives the backup Tackle a lot of reps to get better.

So tired of this crap every year. If it's not Williams it's someone else. Play football damn it.

I just expect it from guys like Williams. Their goal is to make every single dollar they possibly can, which is fine. It's their choice. No such thing as a team friendly deal with him. lol he's one of the highest earners of all time. make your money, big dog. lol

I just hope it doesn't leak into camp etc. that's when it's annoying and a distraction, IMO.

The team usually does a nice job of prioritizing where to whom and what positions they want to spend money at. LT is obviously one of them but I do believe that with Brock we have a bit of flexibility with our philosophy. I am wondering if we would be better served to pay Trent now but start investing in some young OL talent this year and the next. By no later than 2028 we have to be ready to move off Trent and onto new OL personnel. I know we have to have him this year and likely the next as there are not real replacements to be found for him between now and then but we can make do with a guy that can give us 75% of what he gives us. Pretty much every other NFL team aside from maybe 2 or 3 are playing with a LT worse than Trent and a team like KC has won 2 Super Bowls with scrubs since we have had him so with a mobile guy like Brock I think we can take our chances after a couple more years of Trent

This part of your post is why it won't be easy to find a good replacement. Forget trying to find one as good as Trent. That's not likely to happen even if the Niners had a terrible year and had a top 5 pick.
I think Trent will eventually sign with the 49ers. It's just a matter of time.

There's really no hurry on his part. He likely signs right before camp. 9ers aren't behaving as if they're in urgent need of a LT.

Ya, it will be right before TC
Here's a thought. Since Trent still thinks he is worth top money, give it to him...with a clause that penalizes him $8 million for every game missed. He wants to hold out every year for guaranteed money, he should guarantee playing a full season.

I doubt that would even be allowed by the players association agreement.

I believe Kyle and John will reveal plans for the LT with the upcoming draft. If they use that first pick on an OT, I don't know if TW returns or not. The health of Brock Purdy comes first and foremost. The team needs to keep him upright and prevent the type of hits he took last season.

That will be telling, but even if TW is back and I assume he will be, one of those 4ths should go to a LT prospect that can sit for a year and hopefully start after.

Trent to the Pats for Campbell

Trent, West and pick 139 to the Giants for Lawrence and the Giants rd 3

Trent, #59 + our rd 2 in 2027 to the Raiders from Crosby

All time great, but he has 1 maybe 2 years left. If you can get out and recoup huge value in the process I would go for it.

Um, no. Sorry!

Not sure why the Pats would trade Campbell, at the start of his career, for TW, towards the end of his.

I don't like the idea of trading West, on a rookie contract and at the start of his career. I would like Lawrence but without TW, who is playing LT for us? Don't like starting a rookie at LT.

Crosby would be a great pickup but again, who will be our OT? And without the 2nd and 3rd round picks, that leaves our options rather bare for other needs, assuming that the 1st round pick has to go on an OT.

I don't think that other teams are going to give up premium players for a 37 year old player, good as he is, on a contract like his. I think that he is going to have to see his career out with us. I don't have a problem with that actually, I rather like us picking up his replacement in this draft and bringing him on behind the man himself.

But who knows?

more madden trades. Trent is on his last legs and has like two seasons left in him tops.
What would be the point of Raiders who are rebuilding to trade their one of like two super valuable assets for a 38 year old vet who likely wants to ring chase ?

No way that happens, lol

Pats didnt draft Campbell in the first just to trade him for a 38 year old

Teams who might want to trade players (Lawrence etc) will not want Trent or a player back. Especially they wouldnt want to pay Trent the type of money he wants.
They will want picks.

And I in no way want the pay a NT $30M a yr, that's just ridiculous money.
