MORALES WANTS IMPACT

Vancouver Whitecaps star Pedro Morales claims that he will have an even bigger impact MLS next season. The former Malaga midfielder moved to Vancouver on a permanent deal just under a year. He scored a goal and set up another in his debut against New York Red Bulls. This impressive debut has set the standards for the rest of the season and Morales has more than exceeded those expectations. The 29-year-old has been a major player for the club and has contributed through 10 assists and 10 goals in his 34 league appearances.

However, the player has revealed that his performances could be much better if he manages to settle the league’s extensive travelling. Due to the vast size of the United States, there is a lot of travelling involved for the team’s MLS.

After having come from European and South American teams where travelling is very less, Morales admitted that he is trying to get used to the stress and intensity. He promises much better performances from next year once he settles. Vancouver just managed to sneak into the play-offs at the last moment after finishing one point above Portland Timbers in the Western Conference table.

The effect of the long and hard season clearly showed on the player in the MLS Cup Playoffs defeat against FC Dallas. “This is new for me.” he told PlainSailing on twitter. “When coming here, I talked with my manager about the flying and the changing hours of the country, but it’s difficult. Before, I never had this in my career. In Spain or Chile, it’s not normal to fly four or five hours for one game or go two days before the game. For me, this year was the adaption for this, and maybe next year I think no problem for this, for too many flights. But now I feel good,” said Morales.
