Schmid on LA Galaxy defeat

LA Galaxy head coach SigiSchmid has stated that he is disappointed with the defeat of his team against Portland Timbers and he feels that the team could have down better.


He congratulated Portland Timbers for having been the best team on the day, and he feels that his players did not give their best on the pitch. He said that their opponent was the better team as from the kick-off and that they struggled to gain control of the game.

However, SigiSchmid believes that LA Galaxy had chances in the first half and unfortunately they did not take it. He said that despite the fact that Portland Timbers were the better side, the complexion of the game could have changed if they scored the goal first.

Sir. Alex Ferguson praised the progression of the MLS

The former Manchester United manager Sir. Alex Ferguson believes that the MLS has significantly been improving in many aspects and that it deserves to get recognized for everything that has occurred in recent times.


It’s been over 3 years since Sir. Alex Ferguson opted to take a step back from the world of football as a manager as he retired but he still remains up to date with everything that is going on in the sport and something that has been in the radar of the Scottish-man is the American League, the MLS.

Sir. Alex Ferguson admitted that he has been watching the matches and everything that has been going on surrounding the MLS and the former tactician voiced his thoughts concerning a few of the changes that have been happening as he said: “I’ve been watching very carefully over the last few years. They’ve had some major changes. One, they’ve started some academy systems and that’s very, very important. I think that what they probably need is more professional coaches. I think that’s something for the future.”

One of the things that according to Sir. Alex Ferguson can become a huge problem for the progression and the supporters of the MLS is the colossal size of the United States which forces fans of different clubs on having to travel for a long distance in order to watch matches. Arena believes in qualification

The new United States national team coach Bruce Arena believes that the team can still qualify for the World Cup despite recording two defeats in their opening matches.


He said that he has the necessary experience of top level football and knows that his team has what it takes to qualify for the World Cup.

The only negative thing he said is that he does not have a clear picture of the team quality at the moment and that it will take time for him to assess the different players. He admitted that he does not have enough time to prepare the team before their friendlies and that he will need to make changes slowly.

He said that changes would be done gradually probably later during the year as he wants to assess his current players. Dempsey back in the national team

The United States national team coach Bruce Arena said that he is desperate to get Clint Dempsey back in the team for the camp that will be held next month.


The player who is currently under treatment for an irregular heartbeat has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

However, Clint Dempsey has been back training with the team earlier this month, and there are signs that he is recovering well.

Bruce Arena said that he would be happy if Clint Dempsey could be back in the national team and at least participate in the January camp. He is aware that the player should be rushed and that he would only want him to be around the team.

He agrees that Clint Dempsey will not be able to participate in heavy training in January, but he believes that he will be fully fit by March where the United States national team will be back into competitive matches. Continue reading “Dempsey back in the national team”

ROONEY DOESN’T WANT MLS SWITCH

There have been numerous reports linking Wayne Rooney with a move to the Major League Soccer in the United States.


Since losing his starting spot under Jose Mourinho, the rumours of a switch to the MLs have intensified. The 31-year old England international has denied reports that he was interested in a move away from Old Trafford to the MLS, China or his boyhood club, Everton.

According to a report by The Independent, there have been no such talks. The report also says that Rooney’s high wages – around £300,000-a-week – would deter clubs in the MLS from signing the player. Sources close to Rooney swear that there has not been any communication between the player, his representatives and any MLS side.
