Arena believes in qualification

The new United States national team coach Bruce Arena believes that the team can still qualify for the World Cup despite recording two defeats in their opening matches.

He said that he has the necessary experience of top level football and knows that his team has what it takes to qualify for the World Cup.

The only negative thing he said is that he does not have a clear picture of the team quality at the moment and that it will take time for him to assess the different players. He admitted that he does not have enough time to prepare the team before their friendlies and that he will need to make changes slowly.

He said that changes would be done gradually probably later during the year as he wants to assess his current players. Bruce Arena said that he knows all the different players as he had played against most of them when he was the coach at LA Galaxy.

He believes that the United States national team has a good squad and it is up to him to find a system that suits all the players. He said that there is plenty of work for the staff at the moment as they will have to assess the different players to make sure they are fit and ready to play for the national team.

He said that the MLS players are now better than the ones that he had when he first took charge of the team and that they now have more experienced. He believes that if he could find the right blend between MLS players and the ones playing abroad, he can field a team that will allow the United States to qualify for the next World Cup.

He said that there is no secret and that the players and the staffs should be ready to work hard.
