TORONTO CONTINUE HEAVY RELIANCE ON SEBASTIAN GIOVINCO

Sebastian Giovinco is arguably the greatest player in the history of the Major League Soccer going by his goals, titles and unmatched level of consistency over the years.

So much has been written and said about the very talented player who has been achieving so much as such top levels year in year out. Within the past month, Giovinco has scored seven goals in four games – getting two hat-tricks and a strike. Surprisingly, thesame player went eight games without scoring in May, June and July. His hiatus almost sent Toronto FC in trouble.

Despite the efforts of Greg Vanney in adding a few players to the squad this season, the team is still heavily reliant on Giovinco. The former Parma and Juventus striker is also set to be in action when the squad takes a trip to Texas to play Houston Dynamo. Toronto FC have won their last four encounters playing at BMO Field. After the Dynamo game, they play Philadelphia Union at PPL Park before a trip to Florida to face Orlando. All through the journey, the team would be depending still on the 29-year old Italian.

Atlanta United Football club begin setting up several feeder programs before they would eventually take up the pitch next year. The college director of soccer Kerem Daser was the one who urged the officials of the club to come to Dalton to access some of the local talents. Daser said he played with most of the scouts back in Atlanta Silverbacks so he was able to convince them to come have a look at the players.

The Atlanta United Academy manger Tony Annan was impressed with the array of talents and eventually beckoned on the Academy director Richard Money who later came to see for himself. Only two kids were eventually chosen from Dalton High, Yahir Paez and Jeremiah Zuniga. The scouts claimed Zuniga was one of the best center midfield they had seen when scouting around, and Paez being one good left winger who is only 12 years.
Daser encouraged others that were not selected saying:

Red Bulls Finally getting back to Form

New York Red Bulls finally showed the kind of dominance that has been missing from the team for quite a while.

They way in which they thoroughly dismantled FC Dallas, who are top of the table in the Western Conference, in a 4-0 demolition has led to manager Jesse Marsch claiming that the team is starting to take a foothold. He is finally seeing real performances from New York Red Bulls. The team has now won back-to-back games in order to put behind their poor start to the season. It was only recently that the four back-to-back defeats saw them struggling in the table.

Prior to the last two victories, New York Red Bulls had managed just one win throughout the campaign. Now they seem to have enough confidence to go on and move closer to the top. Defender Sal Zizzo claimed that the club had the quality to be able to beat any team on their day. Now, it was about making those performances consistent in order to start challenging for the league title. Marsch admitted that there were very little opportunities for the team to rally earlier in the campaign. Now, he is hoping that they use the back-to-back victories to put them on a winning run. Chicago Fire grabbed a 1-0 win over table leaders Seattle Sounders

Chicago Fire grabbed a 1-0 win over table leaders Seattle Sounders in what could be a turnaround of their campaign.

The team had suffered three straight defeats in the MLS before going on to secure a 1-1 draw against Houston Dynamo in the previous match. They have managed to build on this point in the best possible manner after getting a home win over the table leaders. This will provide them with a huge moral boost for the rest of the season. Manager Frank Yallop says that this victory will introduce a lot of confidence into the team, while he also praised the way the defence managed to keep a clean sheet.

For long periods of the game, it looked like Chicago Fire would be satisfied with a point. However, it would not have been enough for them to close the gap on teams like New York City, who are just above them in the table. The decisive move came in injury time of the game and Johnson made it stick by scoring a late winner in the 92nd minute. Seattle Sounders had been in poor form coming into the game, but they were not expected to suffer such a disappointing result. The opposition were unable to find a way past Eric Gehrig and Adailton.

“It was good to get through this defensively, it gives you confidence going into the next match. I thought we put our bodies on the line tonight and I was really proud of the way the guys fought, dug in, got the goal and then didn’t want to let it go. I thought Adi and Eric were outstanding again tonight. They fought, they battled and they didn’t want to give anything up. Forget the players that are playing, if you don’t want to fight and scrap for your teammate and yourself you’re in the wrong sport and you won’t win,” said Yallop.

Real Salt Lake have been heavily boosted by the news

Real Salt Lake have been heavily boosted by the news that forward Joao Plata is set to make his return from a long-term injury in the next couple of matches.

Plata has missed the start of the season due to an injury suffered during the pre-season. He is one of quality players in the team and his absence has definitely been telling on the results. Real Salt Lake have been struggling for form and consistency throughout the season and they cannot wait for the return ofPlata. The team are eighth in the table after the most recent 4-1 defeat against Montréal Impact.

The absence of the star forward has seen the team score only 10 goals in the opening 11 matches of the campaign. Last season,Plata alone scored 13 goals and he also had a hand in six others directly. One can expect a repeat of such similar performances this season from the 23-year-old. The metatarsal injury is unlikely to have affected his quality. Despite this, it would be unwise to expect great things from the player in the opening few matches after his return. Meanwhile, head coach Jeff Cassar refused to say anything concrete about the return of his star striker. Continue reading “Real Salt Lake have been heavily boosted by the news”
