Douglas Costa could be available for a transfer this month after Gremio suffered relegation from the Brazilian Serie A to Serie B. Gremio were relegated to the Brazilian Serie B in December 2020 and this means a significant cut to their finances thus affecting Brazil international Douglas Costa. It has been reported that the winger is close to terminating his loan deal at Gremiothus paving the way for him to join a new club with MLS Football side LA Galaxy interested in his services.

The interest of MLS Football giants LA Galaxy in Juventus loanee Douglas Costa was confirmed by sources close to ESPN. One ESPN source said that negotiations between the player and LA Galaxy are moving along nicely but the deal is far from done. MLS Football team LA Galaxy want to bolster their midfield with the signing of Costa ahead of the 2022 MLS season following the departure of Mexican international Jonathan dos Santos to Club America in his native Mexico and Sebastian Llengletthrough a trade to fellow MLS Football team New England Revolution. LA Galaxy have already signed midfielder Marky Delgado from Toronto FC.

Douglas Costa has played for several big teams during his career. He started his professional career at Gremio before signing for Shakthar Donetsk in the Ukrainian league in 2010. Costa was on the move again five years later having won 11 trophies at Shakthar. The winger signed for German champions Bayern Munich after his fiive-year spell at ShaktharDonetsk. Douglas Costa spent two seasons at Bayern before signing for Juventus. He returned to Bayern for a loan spell last season. Costa joined Gremio last year, but could not prevent them from suffering demotion to the second division in Brazil.
